During the year, Pastorino Farm near downtown Half Moon Bay is a nursery but during the month of October, it is a great pumpkin patch. Unlike Lemos Farm and some other Pumpkin Patches, this is spacious and has a variety of things to do besides pumpkins. There is a bouncey house, animal petting area, pony rides, two train rides, and a haunted house. We've come every year and highly recommend it. Definitely try to go earlier in the day as parking gets crowded.
Pastorino Farms is a fun outing during pumpkin season (I prefer it to Lemos Farm across the road). During September/October, they have pony, mini train & hay rides, petting zoo, bouncy house etc, & of course 1000s of pumpkins. Nice setting & surprisingly not too crowded.
This place is best for young toddlers who aren't socially aware yet. It's generally very quiet on the weekdays and all the activities are done on a small (size), and low budget scale. Some folks may appreciate the lack of polish. Note that the scary tunnel which runs only a few feet inside one of the nurseries can be disturbing to some children.
Every Halloween, the farm is transformed into a themed wonderland for children and their families. There are hayrides, trackless train rides, pony rides, slides, a haunted house, miniature buildings and a miniature windmill, lots of pumpkins, and a miniature (18" gauge) train ride.
